Bomber teams sweep Kootenay River, Senior girls bounce back against Aberdeen Hall
The L.V. Rogers Bombers posted a pair of victories over Kootenay River in High School Boys Basketball action Saturday at the Hangar.
The Bombers opened the two-game set Saturday with a 89-70 win sparked by the 25-point performance of power forward Levi Konkin.
LVR started fast in the first quarter and maintained the advantage to lead 45-28 at halftime.
Ray Pastori scored 22 points for LVR with Shannon McBride added nine.
In game two, the Bombers defeated Kootenay River 77-61.
Pastori scored 18 points to lead LVR with Carter Janssen added 12 and center Leif Beneteau finishing with seven points.
The game was the third of the week for the Bombers.
Wednesday, Stanley Humphries of Castlegar broke open a close game with a third-quarter scoring blitz to dump the Bombers 73-51.
Stanley Humphries led 30-29 at recess before outscoring the Bombers 43-22 in the second half.
Konken led the Bombers with 24 points while Beneteau added nine.
The Bombers travel to Penticton Thursday to compete in the Pen-Hi Christmas Classic High School Basketball Tournament.
Junior Bombers start season 3-0
The L.V. Rogers Junior Bombers continue to run all over Kootenay competition after the squad posted its third consecutive victory Saturday at the Hangar.
Sparked by a balanced scoring attack, LVR dumped visiting Kootenay River 73-21 in the second game of a two-game set.
LVR led 38-8 at the half before coasting through the final two periods of the play.
Roman Van Lan’t scored 12 points to lead LVR with Jack Boyes and Chase Lake adding 10 and 14 points, respectively.
In the opening tilt between the two Kootenay rivals, LVR blasted Kootenay River 87-26.
Van Lan’t led LVR with 15 points while Gabe Liddell had 14 and Korban Ashly had 11.
Wednesday, LVR defeated Stanley Humphries 78-28 to open the high school hoop season.
Van Lan’t scored nine points with Anton Robel and Ben Stewart adding eight and Ashley seven.
The Junior Bombers travel to Penticton Thursday to compete in the Pen-Hi Christmas Classic High School Basketball Tournament.
LVR finishes with win in Boundary City
The L.V. Rogers Senior Bombers outlasted Aberdeen Hall of Kelowna in consolation play at the Grand Forks Wolves High School Girls Basketball Tournament.
The Bombers opened the six-team tourney with a tough loss against Kootenay River of Creston.
LVR dropped to the consolation round after dropping a game to Kelowna Christian in the final game of the round robin draw.
The Bombers return to the court Thursday when Stanley Humphries of Castlegar visits the Hangar for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
