Nelson Italian-Canadian Society kicks off Spaghetti Sauce, Pizzelle Cookie fundraiser

As the holiday season approaches, our focus shifts towards planning and preparations for gatherings with loved ones.
Food is always an integral part of these memorable occasions, and the Nelson Italian-Canadian Society is here to make it easier with its traditional homemade spaghetti sauce and Pizzelle cookies.
The Nelson Italian-Canadian Society will be stepping back into the kitchen to cook up two types of traditional homemade spaghetti sauce; a traditional Meat-Based Spaghetti Sauce and a Vegetarian Spaghetti Sauce.
This hearty homemade sauce will be made from an authentic Italian recipe that uses canned crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, onions, garlic, olive oil, wine, salt, pepper, fresh and dried herbs. No preservatives, no gluten, no dairy. Just really good food.
The spaghetti sauce will be sold in 1-litre plastic containers for $12 each.
Pizzelle cookies are a favourite with Italians during the Christmas season and are a great way to finish off a fabulous dinner with a light dessert.
There will be two flavours available: Anise and Chocolate.
The Pizzelle cookies will be sold for $12/dozen and packages with 6 Anise and 6 Chocolate Pizzelle cookies are also available.
All proceeds from both fundraisers go to support several charitable initiatives in Nelson.
“Each year the NICS pulls together the culinary skills of its membership to help make the various foods that form the basis of our fundraising efforts,” says NICS President Paul Boscariol.
“We are thankful that we live in a community such as Nelson whose citizens continue to support our fundraising efforts so that we can give back to charitable causes in the community. ”
