KIJHL announces increase in 20-year-old roster players
The Kootenay International Junior ‘A’ Hockey League has announced a policy change, effective immediately, that will see the maximum number of 20-year-old players on a team roster at any one time increased from five to six.
The announcement was made on the KIJHL website.
“Adding an additional 20-year old roster spot provides added flexibility for our member clubs as they build their teams for the 2023/24 season and brings us closer in line with other Junior A leagues across the country,” said KIJHL Commissioner Jeff Dubois.
The change was formalized by the KIJHL’s Executive Committee at the recommendation of its Hockey Operations committee, which includes an experienced Head Coach and/or General Manager from each of the league’s four divisions.
The KIJHL, receiving reclassification approval from BC Hockey to Junior A, Tier 2 beginning in the 2023-24 season, opens with training camps at the end of August.
