Flying Steamshovel prep for BC Senior Games, claim B-event at Salmo Canada Day Tournament

The Flying Steamshovel Senior Mixed Slopitch Team tuned up for the upcoming BC Senior Games by capturing the B-event at the recent Salmo Canada Day Tournament.

The Flying Steamshovel, claiming the $800 B-event prize, opened with a loss before winning three straight — 21-7 in the B-event final.

The next tournament for the the Flying Steamshovel is August 22-26 in Abbotsford at the BC Senior Games.

The team includes, John Mota, Kevin Melanson, Kirk Blank, Tom Campbell, Blaine Benner, Pam Condie, Barry Benner, Wayne Germaine, Chris Mota, Janice Melanson, Marian Shlakoff, Lorne Wuori, Steve Cutts, Chris Bowman, Loni D’Andrea, Edie St. Arnaud and Joe Capriglione.

The Flying Steamshovel team, which consists of players from Nelson, Castlegar, Trail, Rossland and Kelowna, picked up a Silver Medal in Mixed Slopitch at the 2022 Canadian Senior Games in Kamloops.
