Body of Alberta man recovered from Salmo River following Shambahla Music Festival — RCMP
RCMP said a man was found dead in the Salmo River Monday as the annual electronic Shambahla Music Festival concluded its weekend event.
Police said the body was located by a pair of divers hired by the festival to recover garbage from the Salmo river.
Salmo RCMP said once found, the body was brought to shore where life-saving efforts proved to be unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead.
RCMP said no foul play has been suspected.
The man has been identified as a 43-year-old from Calgary, Alta, but the name has not been released.
Police have not determined if the Alberta man was part of the annual music festival.
The Shambahla Music Festival is held on a 500-acre farm south of Salmo that is next to the Salmo River.
Festival goers frequent the river to cool off during the festival.
The Shambahla Music Festival boasts premier electronic music and arts event that attracts upwards of 15,000 people.
The festival is also home to world-class harm reduction services that tests drugs on site for festival goers.
This year the Shambahla Music Festival was held from July 20-23.
