Bombers dump Rattlers to finish strong at Hornets Tournament
The L.V. Rogers Bombers opened the High School Boys Basketball season with a fifth-place finish at the South Okanagan Hornets Tournament Saturday in Oliver.
The Bombers dumped the Osoyoos Rattlers 52-37 in Consolation Final.
Senior Cole Woodward led the Bombers with 17 points as LVR jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
Michael Anderson added seven points for the Bombers.
LVR opened the eight-team tournament with a 74-59 loss Friday afternoon to Mount Boucherie of Kelowna.
The Bombers trailed 20-15 after one quarter and 43-31 at halftime.
Woodward paced the Bomber scoring with 16 points while Kailash Sanjivi added nine points and Malachy Poitras seven.
LVR bounced back in consolation round action, edging George Elliott of Lake Country 49-46.
Sanjivi and Anderson led LVR, each with 12 points while Poitras added nine.
Players of the Game for LVR included Woodward against Mount Boucherie, Poitras against George Elliott and Grade 11 forward Leif Beneteau-Kreutz against Osoyoos.
The Bombers return to action Wednesday with a game at the Hangar at 4 p.m.
