The Nelson Skating Club is gearing up for the upcoming season following a successful summer program where the local organization hosted Olympic and World Medalist Kaetlyn Osmond as well as several provincial coaches during an off-season camp.

The high-level coaching staff, that included Osmond and National/Provincial Level coaches Heather Heide, Renee Gulayets and Caitlin Pettapiece as guest instructors, attracted many skaters from throughout the province.
The Nelson Figure Skating Club, which has been operating for the past 77 years, offers lessons to people of all ages.

No matter the interest — figure skating, hockey, ringette or recreational skating — the Nelson Figure Skating Club teaches the skills to help the skater success with their goals.

Nelson Skating Club, with a current membership of 150-plus, is offering skate programs six-days-per-week at the NDCC and Civic Centre Arenas.

The club, with coaches Jordyn Eberts, Sarah Gower and Makayla Pickering, is hosting the West Kootenay Invitational Competition in December.

Mallard’s Source for sports would like to salute the Nelson Figure Skating Club as Team of the Week.
