ArtWalk 2022 — back with a vengeance

The Nelson & District Arts Council (NDAC) was delighted to see the streets buzzing again with art lovers on Friday, June 24th for the first in-person ArtWalk event since the shut down in 2020.
ArtWalk was back with a vengeance.
There were 27 venues and over 60 artists for folks to explore. The night also included eight mini-performance spaces for musicians and entertainers, the giant AFKO puppet and Bessie Wapp overseeing it all on stilts.
ArtWalk is an annual tradition that has united businesses, artists, and community members for over three decades.
This art will be on display until July 26th when the next artists will start to hang for the next opening.
“What a fabulous night ArtWalk 2022 was,” said Val Semeniuk of Kootenai Moon Home Furnishings.
“It was wonderful to have so many people out visiting all the venues, people were having fun, laughing chatting hugging and admiring all the local art.
“At Kootenai Moon we definitely felt the community spirit. We were pleased to have so many guests in our store and to reunite with those we haven’t seen for over two years. Congratulations to the organizers you did a great job! Looking forward to seeing more people over the next month and excited for the next opening night in July.”
The second opening happening on Friday, July 29th from 5 -8 p.m. will be a bit different as NDAC is partnering with Market Night to fill the streets again. A new set of artists will have their work on display for this opening.
After the second opening, art will be available to view at the participating venues during their regular hours until Sunday, September 4th.
