Mallard's Team of the Week — Cops for Kids Ride

Cyclists from the RCMP and supporting enforcement agencies within South East District, cruised through the Heritage City Monday as part of the annual Cops for Kids Ride.
The 27 riders, including Nelson-based BC Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Kosoff and Sgt. Rob Crowder, are riding across the Southeastern corner of the province to raise awareness and essential funds for children in medical, physical, or traumatic crisis.
“Riding for these kids is an honor,” says Kosof, who along with Crowder are veterans of the annual September ride.
“We ride as a team, knowing that our efforts are going to help them on their journey to better health.”
After a modified format in 2020, the team is excited to be reunited to cycle as a group across the region this year.
To keep the team and the communities safe, they’ll be travelling in a bubble and won’t be hosting community landings in each community like in past years. Supporters are encouraged to watch them pass through Nelson around mid-day on their way to Procter to cheer for the heroes’ efforts, or to donate online via the website.

The 2021 Cops for Kids Ride stopped at the Nelson RCMP detachment Monday to take a team photo.
Funds from the event support ongoing requests from families who require financial assistance to travel to medical care outside their home community, emergency dental treatment, medical supplies, learning tools & mobility aids.
Since 2001, the foundation has raised over $5.8 million for local children who need it most.
