Two Nelson men facing charges following robbery
Two men appeared in Provincial Court Monday following a robbery last week Nelson Police said in a media release.
Nelson Police said the two men, a 22-year-old man and a 24 year-old-man, both from Nelson are charged with:
- Commit Robbery where a Firearm is used s. 344(1) (a.1) CC
- Pointing a Firearm 87(1) CC
- Carry/have in their possession weapons/firearm s.88(2) CC
- Possession weapon for dangerous purpose s. 88(1) CC
The 22-year-old has also been charged with:
- Possession of the Purpose of Trafficking s. 5(2) CDSA
Nelson Police were alerted to the robbery on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, that occurred the day before — Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
“It is alleged that the victim was robbed by two adult males, near the 800 block of Vernon Street, in Nelson,” Nelson Police said.
“Both males were armed with weapons, one with a knife and the other with a firearm.”
“The victim’s pants were stripped down during the incident as the suspects were searching for hidden money,” Nelson Police added.
Nelson Police said the victim was uninjured during the altercation and all persons involved were known to each other.
Nelson Police officers were able to locate both males a short time later and recover some of the victim’s property.
However, Nelson Police said that one of the suspects was found in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl that was consistent with being for the purpose of trafficking.
