Police seek assistance to identify man who vandalized RCMP cruiser
RCMP in Nakusp are requesting public assistance in tracking down a suspect who vandalized vehicles Sunday, including a fully marked police cruiser.
RCMP said in a media release Wednesday, the incident occurred to vehicles in the early morning of Sunday in the area of 5th Street NW in Nakusp.
RCMP said the vandalism was captured on surveillance video at approximately 2:52 a.m. Sunday, June 14th, 2020.
“It is of great concern to the Nakusp RCMP that a police vehicle was targeted as damage to the vehicle could have resulted in a front line police officer not being able to respond to an emergency call for service from the public,” said Cpl. Jaime Moffat of the Nakusp RCMP detachment.
Police said the male suspect is described approximately 5-foot, 8 inches to 6 feet tall. In the video he is seen wearing a light coloured hoodie with the hood pulled up over a baseball cap, a pair of light coloured pants and a pair of black shoes with a reflective tab on the back.
Police said the suspect was carrying a light coloured backpack with a black zipper.
