To The Editor:

Let’s not squander this opportunity!

Are we going to squander a big opportunity to stimulate the economy and fight climate disruption?

Climate change is happening now. ….and it will increase in severity in the coming years! To turn this trend around we must take all opportunities we have to mitigate and adapt to that change. If we are to have any chance of achieving our GHG reduction targets and reaching our climate goal of holding global warming to less than 2 degrees C. we must capitalize on big opportunities staring us in the face.

The reopening of the economy while addressing COVID-19 is one of these opportunities. As we look for ways to stimulate the economy with federal and provincial emergency financing, let’s focus our support.

Let’s step up and get behind promising job rich low carbon renewable technologies and related economic activities that will help us avoid the worst of the climate disruption on our horizon. Let’s not squander this opportunity to affect big positive change.
