Traffic stop near Salmo leads to drug seizure, arrests
Two adults were arrested following a traffic stop Saturday by an E-Division Roving Traffic member on Highway 3/6 outside of Salmo a RCMP media release said Monday.
Police said on April 18, 2020 at 3 p.m., a RCMP E-Division Roving Traffic member along with a Salmo General Duty member conducted a vehicle stop near Salmo.
“Two adults were arrested during this traffic stop and quantities of drugs believed to be Ecstasy (MDMA), Acid (LSD), Hashish, Marihuana and Cannabis Oil were seized,” the RCMP media release said.
“Both suspects were later released and will appear in Nelson Provincial Court at a future date. Charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act will be recommended against both suspects.”
Police said the vehicle the suspects were driving was deemed unsafe and it was impounded.
RCMP said the E-Division Roving Traffic and the Salmo RCMP remain dedicated to the eradication of illicit drug use and trafficking in this area to ensure the public’s safety.
