There’s a group in Nelson wanting to go the extra mile to assist neighbours, seniors and the elderly in the Heritage City.

Nelson Helps is an unofficial group of volunteers working together to help the people of Nelson during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are reaching out to offer assistance as good neighbours,” said Anne Cavicchi of Nelson Helps.

Cavicchi is asking the public to inform Nelson Helps of anyone thatis particularly vulnerable to the virus and does not want to go out for prescriptions, groceries, or other essentials.

“Someone is willing to help,” said Cavicchi. If you know someone who is in isolation, and needs help, let us know.”

Cavicchi would like anyone wanting to become involved to follow a few of Nelson Helps rules:

  • Be Kind and Courteous
  • Respect Everyone’s Privacy
  • Make sure we all feel safe
  • Please do not post medical advice or treatments
  • No Promotions, Spam, or Items for Sale
  • Please avoid posting Memes, news articles, etc
  • Be careful when it comes to money

Cavicchi said people in need can contact the group through Facebook facebook.com/groups/NelsonHelps/; on Twitter @nelsonhelps or via email [email protected]

Citizens can also speak to local pharmacy or grocery store – many of them know how to reach Nelson Helps online.
