Marc Atkinson Trio joins Cameron Wilson for Nelson performance

March 9th, 2020

For lovers of high quality acoustic string music, mark your calendar for the evening of March 16, 2020.  The Marc Atkinson Trio plus Cameron Wilson will be performing at the St. Saviour’s Pro Cathedral in Nelson (Anglican church), corner of  Ward and Silica Streets.

The Marc Atkinson Trio is a group of string musicians including lead and rhythm guitars and stand-up bass.  Marc is a seasoned and very talented Juno nominated guitarist who has performed in Nelson on his own years ago at the Capitol theatre.  The upcoming concert will feature his genre bending fretting and flat picking virtuosity.

Rick Gibbs of Island Jazz says of Atkinson: “It’s not just that Atkinson is so technically proficient that he can spin out seemingly impossible-to-play breath taking lines at will, it’s the emotional nuance and sense of humour in his work that are so engaging.

“Drawing on classical, jazz, roots, and even some rock traditions, he dips into a deep well he has visited many times to delight and surprise his audience with new takes on old tunes with sensitive renderings of his own highly melodic compositions.”

The current trio is comprised of Brett Martens on rhythm guitar and Scott White on stand-up bass and they are first rate musicians in their own respective rights.  The Trio will be joined by Cameron Wilson on violin.  Cameron is a composer as well as superb violinist.  He is described as having “…genre-crossing virtuosity and near limitless musical creativity.

Wilson plays with the National Broadcast Orchestra, Van Django, and Mariachi del Sol.  His compositions have been heard on CBC, NPR and the venerable BBC. And he’s recorded with everyone from Bryan Adams to Spirit of the West.” Put these four talented string players together and the sounds will send you to musical heaven.

Tickets are available at Otter Books and Eddy Music both in Nelson. Concerts in the acoustically wonderful St. Saviour’s Pro Cathedral tend to sell out.

Tickets are $30 cash.More info contact or 250 352 9547 (no txt)
