It’s obvious from the response, a lot of people are interest in making their homes both green and sustainable.

The Seventh Annual Green Home and Energy Show was another hit as hundreds of people flocked to the Prestige Lakeside Resort Hotel in Nelson Wednesday.

Co-sponsored by Nelson Hydro’s EcoSave Program and West Kootenay EcoSociety, the annual trade show had something for everyone — from 3D printing and scanning to ideas on how to shift households from throw-away culture to ideas for building, renovating and transportation.

Divided into two sections, the public was able to visit many of the Nelson area’s local green vendors as well as listen to short presentations from experts in zero waste and plastics.

There were also demonstrations from local electric vehicle companies eager to show the public transportation of the future.

  • Nelson’s EcoSave Program has been expanded and is now the Regional Energy Efficiency Program (REEP). REEP is designed to simplify the process of making your home more energy-efficient and is offered to all residents in the Regional District Central Kootenays. There will be information at the show about subsidized energy evaluations and how you can take advantage of the rebate and income-qualified programs through FortisBC and BC Hydro.
