The Kootenay Rhythm Dragons overcame blustery conditions to capture a Bronze Medal at meet held last month in Kelowna.

The Kootenay Rhythm Dragons, thrilled to record times under one minute in each of the three 200-meter heats during the event, unfortunately, had races cut short due to high winds and choppy waters.

“The team was a little disappointed as we had put in lots of training for that distance, particularly the finish, which is our strength,” a team spokesperson said.

“The water was very choppy with the combination of wind and boat traffic in our semi-final heat where the team finished third in the heat and sixth overall out of 12 women’s teams.”

Mallard’s Source for sports would like to salute the KRD as Team of the Week.

KRD include Bonnie Neumar, Zoyia Burgoyne, Willa Horsfall, coach Cath Little, Carla Klein, Mary Lou Anctil, Sarah Quayle, Maureen Hendry, manager Susan Faye, Patricia Logan, Jeanette McCarvell, Linda Hoffman, Sophie Goodwin, Barbara Couch, Diane Tulloch (Steersperson), captain Marlene Pozin, Karen Heddle, Dorita van Vugt, Jane Burley, Randi Jensen, Dorothy Hatto and Lorna Maxwell.

The Kootenay Rhythm Dragons will take their show from water to land when the organization hosts the Terry Fox Run set for Rotary Lakeside Park Sunday, September 15th at 9:30 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
