Two vehicle accident near Taghum Bridge; Snowfall warning for Boundary, West Kootenay

The morning commute on Highway 3A west of Nelson was slowed Tuesday following a two-vehicle accident meters from Taghum Bridge.
At approximately 8 a.m., two vehicles collided near the bridge sending both drivers into the ditch on the south side of the highway.
RCMP attended the scene along with Beasley Fire Department and BC Ambulance.
Morning traffic was allowed through the accident scene with flaggers stopping vehicles. Both vehicles were not removed from the accident scene due to very poor weather conditions.
Driver’s should expect extreme winter driving as Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for Boundary/West Kootenay and Kootenay Lake regions.
“A moist Pacific frontal system will move across southern BC today bringing snow to all areas,” Environment Canada website said.
“Snow will continue to intensify through the day as the front approaches. Total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 25 cm are expected with the higher amounts occurring mainly over higher terrain. The snow will end near midnight as the front moves out of the region.”
Drivers should prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.
Officers inspect one of the vehicles in the ditch following Tuesday's accident.
RCMP and Beasley Fire Department attended the accident.
