Local agencies showcase Emergency Preparedness during Disaster Day
Nelson didn't have a disaster hit the city during the weekend.
However, if there was, there would have been plenty of emergency responders present as local agencies come together to promote National Emergency Preparedness Week by hosting Disaster Day 2018.
From Nelson Fire Rescue, to Nelson Police Department to BC Ambulance, RCMP and more were present to explain and give tours of equipment to the public Saturday on Hall Street.
The event was hosted to promote personal, family and community emergency preparedness, as well as Fire Smart Awareness.
Saturday, showcased how local agencies work together in our community to prepare for and respond to emergencies.
Disaster Day is an interactive event for the whole family to learn how to be prepared said Len MacCharles, Fire Chief for the City of Nelson.
“It can help our residents and our community be better prepared for a large emergency.”
