Kootenay Lake announces District’s Director of Information Technology

Kootenay Lake School District No. 8 (SD8) is excited to announce that Nick Howald has been selected as the District’s Director of Information Technology. 

 

Howald is joining SD8 from his position at FortisBC where he worked as a compliance manager. With PMP (Project Management Professional) and CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) designations, Howald brings 22 years’ experience in information technology to the district.

 

His past experience includes everything from team leadership, network architecture, server/desktop/infrastructure design and support, to application/web development and cyber security.

 

Prior to his position with FortisBC, Howald worked primarily as a consultant for oil & gas, transportation, communication and web companies. In addition, he serves as a volunteer board member for Lower Columbia Tech Club. 

 

SD8 Superintendent, Christine Perkins, says “The District is pleased to welcome Nick and looks forward to upgrading and modernizing many of our technical capabilities.”

 

Howald officially joined the district on April 23, 2018.
