Savoy Hotel officially kicks open doors
The project that began with the purchase in the summer of 2013, officially off operations again Thursday with the Grand Re-Opening of the newly renovated historic Savoy Hotel in Nelson.
Owner Jimmy Bundschuh, off Shambhala fame, Nelson Mayor Deb Kozak and friends cut the ribbon in front of a full house inside the hotel at 198 Baker Street Thursday evening.
The celebrations come following five years of renovations.
The historic building has been transformed into a unique, state-of-the-art venue complete with 12 boutique hotel rooms.
It’s a metamorphosis for the venerable building that previously housed several businesses including a restaurant, nightclub, pub and hostel before it burned more than a decade ago.
The venue includes a brewery, nightclub, music lounge-restaurant as well as a cafe.
