BC Summer Reading Club 2017: Walk on the Wild Side

The Nelson Public Library invites children aged 6-12 to join the 2017 BC Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Walk on the Wild Side. Programs are free and drop in at the library and run from Tuesday July 4 to Thursday August 17. Children receive a reading record to help keep track of their summer reading fun: if they complete the record, they will be awarded a medal at the end of the summer!
“We’re excited about all the fun activities, field trips, and special guests planned for this summer,” says Summer Reading Club co-coordinator, Claire Maslak. “It really will be a walk on the wild side!”
The BC Summer Reading Club motivates kids to read (or be read to) regularly, which helps to maintain or improve their reading skills while school is out. It makes reading fun by inviting kids to read what they want and when they want. The expert staff at the Nelson Public Library can help kids find just what they like, whether it’s a print book, audiobook, e-book, or magazine.
The BC Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, with financial support from Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education, and the RBC Foundation.
“We’ll be making homemade slime, taking a trip to the fire station ,reading to animals at the SPCA, and lots more! So come out and get reading!” says Kyoko Conne, who will be leading the pack along with Claire.
