Wayne Stetski, Member of Parliament for Kootenay-Columbia, is hosting a Small Business Forum in Nelson at the United Church Hall Wednesday (May 24th).

“Small businesses are the drivers of our local economies.  They provide jobs which support our families and keep rural communities vibrant,” Stetski said.

“During the election I made a commitment to small business owners that I would work with all levels of government toward improving the business climate in our region.  The business forums are an important step in fulfilling that commitment.”

The Nelson Small Business Forum will provide Central Kootenay business owners with the opportunity to address representatives from federal, provincial and municipal governments on how they can better support small businesses in the region.

“We know rural small businesses face a range of challenges,” Stetski said.

“It is important for policy makers to hear first-hand how their decisions affect the day to day operations of the businesses our communities rely on.”

Stetski will head a panel of representatives from the three levels of government.  All business owners throughout the Central Kootenay are invited to join the Forum and participate in this opportunity to share ideas on how to better sustain and grow their operations.

This is the third in a series of business forums Stetski has hosted in the riding.

Nelson Forum is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Nelson United Church Hall, 602 Silica St. in Nelson.

There is no fee for attending.  However, anyone attending is asked to reply by emailing or by calling Stetski’s Nelson office at 250 354 2610.
