Selkirk Pro-Musica Concert Series presents Nomad Jones

The Selkirk Pro-Musica Concert Series is proud to present its final concert for the 2016-2017 season, Nomad Jones, Saturday (April 22) at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Saviour’s Pro Cathedral (Silica & Ward).
Local banjo legend Craig Korth brings Western Canada’s hottest new bluegrass band to Nelson. Along with Craig, the band also features Bill Humby on guitar and vocals, Miles Zurawell on dobro, Byron Myhre on fiddle, and Nico Humby on bass.
A combination of youth and beauty, veterans and virtuosos, Nomad Jones banded together to chase the bluegrass bug, bolstered by their diverse backgrounds. Equally comfortable ripping on rollicking classics or serenading on sultry ballads, Nomad Jones draws on an extensive repertoire of traditional bluegrass and beyond to provide a full package of family harmonies and intriguing instrumentals.
Nelson’s St. Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral will provide the intimate and interesting setting for this fantastic concert.
Tickets are $15 and available at Otter Books and at the door.
As part of Selkirk Concert Society’s Youth Engagement Program, Craig Korth will also be presenting a free bluegrass workshop on April 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Scout Hall in Nelson (320 Cedar St.).
The workshop is directed at West Kootenay youth, but all are invited to attend this fun and informative session featuring one of Canada’s best bluegrass musicians.
The Selkirk Concert Society gratefully acknowledges the generous grant from the Columbia Basin Trust’s Community Initiatives Program that has helped fund the entire season, as well as grants from the Osprey Foundation, the BC Touring Council and the Nelson & District Credit Union that support the society’s Youth Engagement Program.
