Chamber asks for greater share from city as visitor numbers, costs climb in new location

An increase in tourism visits in the city and a new building has the city’s chamber of commerce asking for its first visitor centre operating expense increase from the city in almost 10 years.

The Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce has asked the city for a three per cent inflationary increase to the annual fee for service contract it has with the city — something it has not asked for since 2007 — as city council entertained presentations from various city-funded groups while it prepares its next budget.
