Goodbye to old store, hello new era — Kootenay Co-op

After years of cramped quarters, the Kootenay Co-op is kicking open the doors on a brand new store on the ground floor of the Nelson Commons Building.

Marketing and Outreach Manager Jaime Frederick said staff has been busy making the transition to open the new store Wednesday.

The new Kootenay Co-op Store will occupy 20,000 sq. ft., with a bakery, meat department, olive bar, kitchen, seating area for eating as well as larger areas for grocery and health and wellness products.

The Kootenay Co-op Store is part the major Nelson Commons project with consists of 47,000 square feet of residential space (54 condominium units) and commercial space.

Frederick said there remains a few minor issues to be completed with the new store but the doors will open Wednesday morning for regular hours.
