Friday, being the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians are asked to pause at 11th hour to remember the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives in military service.

Once again there will be Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Nelson, starting with the traditional parade throught the downtown core to the Nelson Cenotaph in the City Hall Courtyard.

Nelsonites will join the rest of Canada paying tribute with two minutes of silence to the country’s fallen soldiers from the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict and peacekeeping missions.

The public attending the ceremonies is asked to show up early, around 10:15 a.m. for the service that begins at 10:45 a.m. and the Last Post and one minute of silence at 11 a.m.

Several dignitaries are scheduled to speak, including Mayor Deb Kozak.
