NDP leader John Horgan accepts invitation to appear in Nelson Friday

The leader of the New Democrat Party of BC is going to be in Nelson Friday (September 16) for an informal chat with the voters of Nelson/Creston riding.

John Horgan, MLA for Juan de Fuca on Vancouver Island, accepted the invitation from NDP Nelson/Creston MLA Michelle Mungall to attend an event starting at 6 p.m. at the Hume Hotel.

Horgan, who was first elected MLA for Malahat-Juan de Fuca in 2005 and re-elected as the MLA for Juan de Fuca in 2009 and again in 2013, was named leader of the New Democrats on May 1, 2014

Horgan, born and raised in Victoria, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trent University and a master of arts from Sydney University in Australia.

Horgan has been opposition education critic as well as energy critic before taking over the party leadership.

The next provincial general election will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
