Lots of Fun Activities Planned for Kootenay Seniors Fair
The 2016 Kootenay Seniors Fair is taking place on Friday September 30th at the Prestige Lakeside Resort & Convention Centre, 701 Lakeside Drive in Nelson.
Doors open at 10 a.m. with local singer Mary Audia serenading arriving Fair-goers in the Lobby; the event goes until 3 p.m. There is no charge for entrance to the Seniors Fair and all activities and services are free.
In addition to 37 vendor tables offering information about a wide variety of services, seniors can participate in belly dancing, chair yoga, tai chi and qi gong.
Attendees can rest in the Café area, enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea, and listen to Kootenay Co-op Radio’s Elaine Dupuis’ play her vinyl collection from her “Memories” program.
There will also be on-site health services including hearing screenings, foot care checks, fall prevention awareness, and chair massage. Outside the venue seniors can take a ride in a horse & carriage, get a transit orientation on a real city bus or HandyDART, or take a free ride on the electric tram.
Seniors can get help with transportation to and from the Seniors Fair by calling Dana at 25-352-2708, ext. 10 by noon on Thursday September 29th.
