Stetski's whistle-stop coffee shop tour lands in Nelson
Kootenay-Columbia MP Wayne Stetski whistle-stop coffee shop tour made landing in Nelson Wednesday morning at Empire Coffee.
The NDP member of parliament has been hitting the coffee shops in the ridings to speak with voters regarding improvements to Canada’s electoral system — to ensure that every vote counts equally.
During Stetski’s Summer Democratic Reform tour, the former Cranbrook Mayor stopped in 14 communities to hear from residents of Kootenay-Columbia.
The tour began August 9 in Fernie, concluding in Golden, Invermere and Spillicheen August 19.
Currently a parliamentary committee is in the process of studying electoral reform.
The federal government said the committee will deliver its recommendations to Parliament and, within 18 months of forming government, Liberals have said the will introduce legislation to enact electoral reform.
