RCMP said a man attending the Pemberton Music Festival is a Vancouver-area hospital after being stabbed at the popular event Monday.

Sergeant Rob Knapton of the Whistler RCMP said the man is being treated for injuries allegedly sustained as a result of this incident.

“Pemberton RCMP were notified of a possible pepper spraying incident in a camping area of the Pemberton Music Festival,” Knapton said in a media release.

“Prior to police arrival, further information indicated a stabbing may have occurred as well.”

Knapton said police are in the initial stages of their investigation but can confirm that one man has been taken into custody in relation to this incident.

“Investigators have cordoned off the area and are in the process of speaking to witnesses,” he said.

Knapton said anyone who may have witnessed this incident and who have yet to speak to police is asked to contact Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6634.
