Nelson Area Sea and Air Cadets depart for Summer Training

Members of 81 Hampton Gray Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corp and 561 Osprey Royal Canadian Air Squadron from Nelson left recently for Summer Training.
 
The Cadets who are aged 12 to 18 years of age where traveling to Cadet Training Centres in Comox (Quadra Cadet Training Centre), Victoria (Albert Head Cadet Training Centre) and Vernon Cadet Training Centre.
 
The cadets are attending courses that are two to six weeks in duration.
 
The courses the cadets are attending are General Training, Basic Fitness and Sports, Basic Aviation Technology and Aerospace, Basic Seamanship, Intermediate Sail, Senior Sail, and Ship Boat Operator.

“I am really exciting to be going to Summer Training again,” said Nelson Air Cadet Matthew Bullen.
 
In addition to the cadets going on Summer Training, several cadets will be employed over the summer as instructors at Cadet Training Centres.
 
Also, Petty Office Second Class Teo Cho from 81 Hampton Gray will spend three weeks on a Canadian Coast Guard Ship in Canada’s Arctic region.

Quick Facts:

  • Cadets have been active in Nelson since the 1940’s.
  • There is no cost for the cadets to attend Summer Training.
