Nelson History Theatre is presenting a fundraiser for the three Nelson groups who have brought or hope to bring refugees to Nelson: The Nelson Refugee Coalition; The Cathedral Refugee Committee; and The Nelson Friends of Refugees.

The event, a variety show by local performing artists, will be hosted by Pat Henman and Richard Rowberry. There will also be a live auction conducted by Lisel Forst and a silent auction with contributions from a range of painters, potters, and other artisans.

The live auction will feature a 40 by 60 inch photograph printed on aluminum by Robert Neufeld, a Carol Reynolds landscape and a mixed media wall hanging by Angelika Werth.

“These and the silent auction items are exceptional works,” said Rowberry, “which means that someone wanting to support our refugee organizations can also come away with a beautiful and valuable piece of art.”

Photographs of auction items and updates are being posted on facebook at Welcome Home: Refugee Fundraiser.

The performers will include students of the Nelson Music Teachers’ Assoc: Suki Symington, Rebecca Xie and a string trio made up of Tibo Kohmel, Fiona and Sophie Burkholder; storyteller Niko Bell, actors Cate Baio and Lucas Myers, Allison Girvan and Laline, Aryn Sheriff and The Lazy Poker Blues Band, and Quinn and Felix Barron.
