A group of 30 students between Grades 10-12 from throughout the West Kootenay region are slated to attend the 2016 Nelson Emergency Services Camp beginning Friday at L.V. Rogers High School.

The camp is coordinated by the Nelson Police Department in conjunction with the Nelson RCMP, Nelson Fire Rescue, Nelson Search and Rescue, and BC Ambulance and is based on previous successful years of Police Camp in Nelson.

The students will be involved in demonstrations from the various emergency services, including forensics, search and rescue, victim services, use of force training, restorative justice, rollover simulator, general investigation services and requirements for the police physical testing along with firearms and accident investigation.

The very busy weekend concludes with a graduation where all students received a certificate of participation from camp coordinators.

The camp begins Friday morning at LVR, ending Sunday afternoon with Graduation ceremonies.
