Nelson Legion Auxiliary makes a family happy with donation to United Church Food Cupboard
The newly formed Nelson Legion Auxiliary recently helped a local family through Christmas with a donation to the United Church Food Cupboard.
The donation came from proceeds from the Nelson Legion Christmas Party.
Nelson Legion Auxiliary is committed to actively supporting our Legion, our veterans and the the greater Nelson Community.
Nelson Legion Auxiliary wishes to express gratitude to the Nelson Food Cupboard for creating the space and opportunity for all of us to engage in showing kindness and caring at Christmas.
With the kindness of our Legion community we were able to offer food and gifts for a family with the hope of making the Christmas season less stressful this year . . . but the most enduring lesson in doing so, is the joy we experienced in the giving.
No doubt the Legion would love to see an affluent community where nobody had any need for help in Winter, Summer or indeed any time of year. Bur alas it is not the case, and we have in our midst families and friends who need a helping hand.
“There is no doubt that the those who receive gifts and food are grateful for the generosity of their neighbours . . . but there is a bigger picture,” said Hilda Taylor VP of the Nelson legion Auxiliary.
“Those of us who participate in these acts of love, as expressed in a basket of food or presents are the true recipients.”
