Kootenay-Columbia NDP candidate Wayne Stetski was front and center Wednesday afternoon in Nelson, leading a parade of approximately 50 supporters down Baker Street.

Stetski led the parade, dubbed, “Nelson, BC Vote Together!”

The crowd sang “Harperman, it’s time for you to go” as they paraded up sidewalks through the Nelson downtown.

“I don’t have to tell you that this is the most important election that I have seen in my lifetime,” Stetski told the crowd of supporters following the parade.

“We have a lot of orange over here . . . but you are very much needed,” he said.

Stetski is in a tight race with Kootenay-Columbia incumbent, David Wilks of the Conservative Party.

Recent national polls have the Liberals leading the Conservatives and NDP Party.

However, Stetski believes the election will come down to which party can get the vote out — especially in BC and not just the big provinces in Eastern Canada.

“I really appreciate having Nelson, Salmo and Kaslo in our riding,” said the former Cranbrook Mayor.

“Every vote you get our here is critical. Every vote will count in this election.”

Stetski, Wilks, Don Johnston of the Liberal Party and Bill Green of the Green Party are all vying to represent Kootenay-Columbia residents as the MP in Ottawa.
