Nelson Minor Baseball historians say the last time a Heritage City squad won the West Kootenay Babe Ruth Championships the current members of the team were not even born.
A group of Nelson players put that streak to rest by stopping Trail Athletics 11-5 Thursday at the Queen Elizabeth Park.
Nelson broke open a close game with six runs in the final innings.
Staff at Mallard’s Source for sports would like to salute the accomplishment with Team of the Week honours.
The Nelson Babe Ruth squad includes coach Roger May, Jayden Maida, Marco Falcone, Jared Martin, Chase May, Jordan McLeod, assistant coach Dylan Jacobs, Andrew Felcone, Benoit Thibault, Vinnie Watson, Garnet Duplessie, Sebastian Bodine and Justin Lasichuk.
