Hawks, Desert Dogs fighting to stay alive in KIJHL Conference Finals
The Beaver Valley Nitehawks hope to use home ice to extend the Kootenay Conference Final Playoff Series Tuesday in Fruitvale.
The Hawks currently trail Kimberley Dynamiters 3-1 in the best-of-seven Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Conference Final after posting a 4-3 double-overtime win Sunday in the Bavarian City.
Mitch Foyle scored his second of the game on the power play in extra time to send the series back to the West Kootenay.
Kimberley jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the series after posting two surprising wins in the Hawks’ Nest — 3-2 in overtime and 6-3.
Sunday, Beaver Valley was able to solve Kimberley netiminder Tyson Brouwer, who has stymied the Hawks through the first three games of the series — despite the Hawks out shooting the Nitros in every game.
Beaver Valley holds a 148-90 shots advantage in four games.
Game time Tuesday is 7 p.m. in the Hawks’s Nest.
If a Game six is needed, it will be played Wednesday in Kimberley.
In the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference Final between Osoyoos and Kamloops, the Storm leads the series 3-1 with Game five Tuesday in the South Okanagan.
