SUPPORTING THE BEREAVED
For those who have lost someone through death, the cycle of loss through detachment, despair and anger to recovery can be a lonely, frightening and overwhelming experience, even when family and friends are trying to support us.
A grief support group provides a safe, supportive environment where the bereaved can learn that the way they are experiencing their grief is normal and very individual.
Grief is a healthy response to loss that needs to be acknowledged and expressed before we can move on.
Working through feelings about losses and sharing them with others who are also grieving decreases our isolation and loneliness while helping us learn how to experience and work through our pain.
Nelson & District Hospice Society is offering a free Grief Support Series for anyone grieving the loss of someone through death.
The group will run for four weeks starting Thursday, February 12 until March 5 from 6- 8 p.m.
Pre-registration is required but attendance is free. For more information and/or to register, please call Nelson Hospice at 250-352-2337 or email [email protected].
All calls are confidential. Donations gratefully accepted.
