NPD caution motorists after pedestrian struck at Vernon & Stanley crosswalk
Nelson Police would like to remind motorist to be extra vigilant entering intersections with crosswalks after a pedestrian was struck by a slow moving motor vehicle causing non-life threatening injuries Monday (December 22) evening.
The accident happened at the crosswalk on Vernon and Stanley Streets in Nelson.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Police, believing low light conditions contributed to the accident, would like to remind pedestrians during this busy season to ensure they wear high visibility or bright clothing to better seen by motorists at night.
Thieves break into Trafalgar Middle School
Nelson Police is investigating a break in at Trafalgar Middle School between Friday (December 19) and Saturday (December 20).
It is believed the culprits forced entry and accessed the school causing approximately $500 in damage.

NPD urges residents to lock up belongings
Nelson Police is currently investigating a break in to a Nelson sometime Saturday (December 20) night.
It was determined that offender had gone through the complainant’s unlocked vehicle and then entered the complainant’s unlocked residence removing a jacket, wallet, and cash.
Nelson Police would like to remind residents to ensure their vehicles and residences are secure to avoid becoming potential victims of crime.
