Mallard's Team of the Week — Kootenay BC Games Team

Kootenay athletes, including a host from the Nelson area, are flocking to Nanaimo for the 2014 BC Summer Games.

During the next four days, more than 2500 athletes between the ages of 11 and 18 years will compete in 19 different sports at venues throughout Nanaimo. 

Competitions for athletes with a disability are also included with events scheduled in athletics, para-equestrian and swimming. 

The athletes will be supported by over 500 coaches and 300 officials who have earned their certification in order to provide the best knowledge and expertise to the athletes and the competition. 

One of the teams from the Kootenays is the Girl’s Soccer squad.

Coached by Clemente Miranda-Trevino and Nelson’s Kerry Dyck, the team takes to the field Friday for its first action.

Mallard’s Source for sports would like to wish the girls well with Team of the Week honours.

The Kootenay squad includes Hanna Schulze, coach Clemente Miranda-Trevino (front of Miranda-Trevino) Abby Jackson, Farrah Marzicola, Alyssa Berkhiem, Dawson Downie, Kiara Ker, Lennox Lockhurst, Mackenzie Fulton, coach Kerry Dyck, Ruby Linnen, Ella Peloso (keeper), Alexis Dyck, Lucy Lalach (keeper) and Kaliana Forte.
