Princeton RCMP have a suspect in custody following a fire last week that engulfed three residences.

RCMP were called (Thursday) March 27 at 10:20 p.m., to assist the Princeton Fire Department with a structure fire located in the Second Bench area of Princeton.

Upon arrival, police found three residences engulfed in flames and the fire department using all their resources to combat the flames and protect neighbouring homes.

Prior to police arrival, by standers were able to wake an individual in one of the neighbouring residences that was on fire and get them to safety.

Sgt Barry Kennedy advised it’s a blessing that there were no injuries associated to these fires, but property damage appears to be extensive.

Investigation into the cause of the blaze has lead police to believe that the original fire was intentionally set in a garage attached to one of the destroyed homes.

After engulfing the original residence, due to the intense heat, the fire quickly spread to two other adjacent homes.

The investigation is still in its preliminary stages and police are not releasing any names of those involved in this investigation.
