Nelson CARES Society has been awarded Three-Year accreditation by CARF International.

This is the third consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to Nelson CARES Society.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards.

An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.

Nelson CARES Society has been offering services to the community of Nelson and area since 1974.

“Every three years we invite CARF surveyors on-site to evaluate our programs against international standards for quality. We demonstrated excellence to the surveyors and we deeply appreciate our Board and staff commitment to quality client service,”Jenny Robinson, Executive Director.

“This is a process of continuous quality improvement and is required by our ministry funders.  We have a lot to be proud of at NCARES and this was a chance for us to exchange ideas, practices and learn.”

As part of the survey, the surveyors interviewed people who receive NCARES services, their families, our staff, and others.

“Services for Community Living’s Community Support Workers and Supported Employment workers are the foundation for our recent Accreditation success.  As manager, I want to thank them for their ongoing dedication,” Shirley Winning, Manager of Supported Community Living.

CARF International is an independent, not-for-profit family of organizations (including CARF, CARF Canada, and CARF-CCAC) that provides accreditation in the field of human services.
