There’s a bit of Nelson flavour at the NHL Heritage Classic happening today between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators at BC Place in Vancouver.

Members of the Nelson Atoms are part of the 55,000 fans at the game, as the team was awarded 25 tickets.

Sunday’s game is the third in Heritage Classic series.

The first happened in 2003 between Edmonton and Montreal.

The contest in Calgary in 2011 was won 4-0 by the Flames over Montreal.

The fourth is set for 2016 in Winnipeg.

Sunday’s game is part of the long history between the two clubs, which played for the Stanley Cup in 1915.

The Nelson Atom A boys made it on the NHL Twitter website at the Heritage Classic today.
