Snowmobiling Invitational comes to Kaslo January 24-26

Kaslo is throwing a party and everyone is welcome.

The downtown core is going to be converted into a snowmobiling mecca from January 24-26 at the Kaslo Snowmobiling Invitational.

All weekend with free activities around town, information sessions, displays, dealer reps, trail rides and a live band with dancing and parties at the Kaslo Hotel Pub.

Kicking off the festivities on Friday there will be a mid-afternoon trail ride. The exact trail location and time will be announced closer to the event. For those not wanting to ride on Friday, downtown Kaslo offers many boutique shops, bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants and galleries to keep you entertained.

Friday night celebrations are filled with food and entertainment for both the participants and their partners. There will be a featured snowmobile movie with some extreme sledding along with great drinks and food from Kaslo’s downtown eateries.

The good times are amped up at 8 p.m. when Blackberry Wood, a high energy alt-country-gypsy-circus music band takes the stage at the Kaslo Hotel. No Cover.

Saturday afternoon, downtown Kaslo will be a lively scene from top to bottom of Front Street:

  • Used sleds buy-sell-swap event will be at the corner of Front and 5th
  • New Sleds will be on display at the Kaslo Hotel;
  • Barrens Sports Shop  will have winter clothing on display; and

Information clinics will run from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. hosted by professionals and locals along with Question and Answer sessions after each topic.

  •  Buying a Mountain Sled and Basic Clothing
  •  Basic Safety and Trail Repairs
  •  Local Trail Familiarization
  •  Local Snowmobile Clubs & Terrain Etiquette/ Responsibility

All clinics will be held on Front Street using facilities such as Selkirk College, the Kaslo Hotel Conference Room, and other required spaces.

Saturday night will be a party with food in several restaurants on Front Street, and then a party with Blackberry Wood again at the Kaslo Hotel beginning at 8 p.m. No Cover.

Sunday will be a sledding extravaganza on the mountains around Kaslo! Grab a bag lunch from one of Kaslo’s businesses and then head for the hills.
