A day to drop everything and — READ!

On Monday, October 28th, the British Columbia Teacher-Librarians’ Association, the British Columbia Library Association, the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation, the Library & Literacy Branch of the Ministry of Education, and the British Columbia School Trustees Association would like to invited everyone in British Columbia to drop everything and read!
The British Columbia Teacher-Librarians’ Association, in conjunction with Canadian National School Library Day and BC Library Month celebrations, will be sponsoring its seventh annual province-wide ‘Drop Everything and Read’ (DEaR) challenge next week.
With over 65 000 students, teachers, parents, and school volunteers participating last year, DEaR has grown to become a regular celebration of literacy, libraries, and the pure joy of reading in British Columbia.
To help celebrate the newly proclaimed BC School Library Day and DEaR, the Minister of Education, the Honourable Peter Fassbender, will be reading with students at the opening of the new Richard Bulpitt Elementary in Langley from 11:00-11:30 a.m.
