The L.V. Rogers Bombers tuned up for another shot at competing in the B.C. High School AA Boy’s Soccer Championships by competing in a tourney this past weekend in Kelowna.

The Bombers found the competition tough against Triple-A school from the Okanagan, finishing seventh overall.

LVR opened the tourney losing in penalty kicks to host Kelowna Owls after the team tied 2-2. Ryan Lewis scored both goals for the Bombers.

Unfortunately, for the Bombers, the squad had to play Rutland right after the tough KSS contest, losing 3-1 in the process.

“We played Rutland next and lost 3-1 but we played back to back so it was a tough one, they are a AAA school too but not as good as Kelowna,” said Bomber coach Jamie Spendlove.

Andrew Tranfo scored the lone goal for LVR.

In the final game, the Bombers tied North Kam of Kamloops 2-2.

Jaydon Wouters and Tranfo scored the LVR.

The Bombers now prepare for the Kootenay High School Zone Championships set for Friday in Creston.

LVR, the top seeded team, gets a bye into the second round of the six-team tourney.

The Bombers meet the winner of David Thompson Lakers of Invermere and Castlegar’s Stanley Humphries Rockers at 1 p.m.

Host Prince Charles of Creston, seeded second plays the winner of Selkirk Storm of Kimberley and the J. Lloyd Crowe Hawks of Trail.

The final is set for 3:30 p.m.

LVR is the defending Kootenay zone champ.
