The streets in Fairview were ringing with sirens as Nelson Fire Department responded to an engulfed shed in the 600 Block of Sixth Street early Wednesday morning.

The call came into NFD dispatchers at 5:19 a.m. that a shed was on fire at 811 Sixth Street in upper Fairview.

Two firefighters initially responded with four additional members called out to help the fire from spreading into the trees.

The shed was directly on the bank of the creek and crews had to be cautious as they extinguished the fire.

“In all, six firefighters responded to the incident with two fire engines and one utility vehicle,” said Assistant Fire Chief Mike Daloise in a statement.

“No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by members of the Nelson Fire Department and the Nelson Police Department.”

Daloise added that Nelson Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone that it is still wildfire season and if any resident requires a free home risk assessment to please contact the Nelson Fire Department at 250-352-3103.
