Supporters to Keep Jumbo Wild are hosting a parade through the streets of Nelson Friday prior to Eco-Society MarketFest on Baker Street.

The parade leaves from Nelson City Hall at 6:30 p.m., heading up to Kootenay Street. and down to the Falls Street Stage at Marketfest for brief speeches at 6:45 p.m.

The parade is in support of a handful of Citizens for Jumbo Wild protesters camped at the Jumbo Glacier Resort in southeastern B.C. near the Commander Glacier.

The ad-hoc group of Citizens for Jumbo Wild has been camped out on the road to the Farnham Glacier since July 24, monitoring traffic and speaking to recreation enthusiasts travelling the road.

The group recently said it stopped a compact excavator bound for the glacier on the weekend.
