The only remaining on the Lakeside Soccer Fields is Canada Geese and City of Nelson maintenance workers as both youth and adult leagues take their summer hiatus.

Nelson City Soccer was the last to pack it in for the summer as the league gears up for the second half of the campaign in September.

In the Finley’s Ladies Rec League, the Fireballs own a two-point advantage over Selkirk Eyecare.

Defending champion Lily Whites are third with Red Dog, Dirty Dozen and Goal Diggers rounding out the six-team field.

Meanwhile, in the Leo’s Men’s Open League, Innkeepers posted its second win in as many games over defending champion Old Dogs FC to open a six-point lead in league standings.

Kootenay Co-op is third followed by the U17 Nelson Selects.

In the Jackson’s Hole Men’s Masters League, Club Inter is running away with the league after jumping out to a 10-1-0 record.

Club Inter leads Jackson’s Hole and Real Nelson by 13 points in league standings.

Bia Boro, Ted Allen’s and Red Dog hold down the remaining three spots.

The regular season resumes in September with playoffs set for later in the month and early October.
